SOPHIST - Shaving set of MÜHLE, silvertip badger, with safety razor, handle material made of genuine horn

3-part shaving set without bowl, handles of genuine horn with chromed metal accents:

  • Shaving brush with silvertip badger

  • Shaving brush size L = big shaving brush head with 23 mm ring

  • Safety razor, compatible with classic razor blades

  • Stand made of metal, chrome-plated

The Material - Genuine horn
Genuine horn has been used to make useful or decorative objects since ancient times. The natural material must be selected and processed with great care: Only solid horn tips are used for the handles of shaving brushes and razors. If the hand-picked tips are sufficiently thick, they are formed meticulously by a turner. Then they are very finely ground several times and finally polished to a high-gloss finish.

The gentle light to dark colouring makes the surface of the horn appear very warm. The graining of the work pieces shimmers from white to brown and dark brown, lending each product its own individual character.

Without chrome the world would forfeit a lot of its lustre. In the finish used for our wet shaving accessories it demonstrates its best qualities: The material is corrosion-resistant, very long-lasting and has a luxurious, alluring lustre. When contrasted with this, the colours and shapes of other premium materials are shown to their very best advantage.

The Brushhead - Silvertip badger
Among connoisseurs, silvertip badger is regarded as the pièce de résistance: Only the best, carefully selected badger hair is used for these purely handcrafted shaving brushes. The precious natural material is particularly soft and flexible.

The fine, conically tapering hairs possess the ability to retain a large amount of water and produce a dense, creamy lather. Another sign of quality is the even black band running horizontally through the predominantly silvery gleaming hair.

This premium product is manufactured using historical tools in an artisan procedure mastered by only a few specialists worldwide. The semi-circular shape of the brush head is created by hand when binding the brush. The fine tips therefore do not require trimming and the natural softness of the hair is retained.

The Razorhead - Classic razor blade
For generations, the safety razor has been regarded as a stylish classic which can even shave edges with precision. For many, it is the razor par excellence. Its styling is ideally suited to the design of the MÜHLE products.

Even if the open blade does demand a little respect at first: After a brief familiarisation period, and guided by a steady hand, it produces a very close shave and a lasting result. Unlike modern blade systems, the head of the safety razor does not move. The blades are replaced by unscrewing the cap. They can be purchased from us and by retailers everywhere.

Measures

Dimensions: 90 mm x 155 mm

Weight: 410 g

How to use:
Shaving with a safety razor requires a little practice. The skin also needs some time to grow accustomed to the shave. Getting started will be easier if you follow these instructions:

Moisten the beard area, preferably with warm water, and lather it thoroughly with a brush. The longer you lather the beard, the more easily and gently the hairs can be cut. If possible, use a highly effective moisturising shaving cream or soap as this will allow the blade to slide over the skin more easily. Make sure that the shaving head and handle are firmly attached to each other, but only tighten the screw to the extent that it can be unscrewed without too much effort.

This ensures that the blade rests at the correct angle. Now begin with the shave. Hold the safety razor at an obtuse angle (approx. 30°) to the skin. Start with the cheeks and allow the razor to slide over the skin, applying gentle pressure. Always shave in the direction of the beard growth (with the grain). When shaving the neck, stretch the skin tight with your free hand. Do not be discouraged by small cuts or grazes. Once you have familiarised yourself with the razor, they will rarely occur.
